An Evening With Anggun

My Dream has come true... I have finally met a singer I have been a fan of for the past 8 years... Anggun Cipta Sasmi! Undoubtedly, I am still on cloud 9... got her autograph, took a photo together and managed to chat with her too!!!!

Anggun was actually at Starhill yesterday due to the launch of the Audemar Piguet boutique there... she's the new appointed ambassadress.

Dedicated to the JR Bressel

Finally... here are shots of my new acquisition, the JeanRichard Bressel. Why did I buy this relatively unknown brand? Well it's because of JR's affiliation with Girard Perregaux as well as the small production runs. Also, I really wanted a handwind small seconds time only watch! Lovely how the Unitas has been reworked eh? IMHO, even better than Panerai's version.

More Unitas 6497

To keep the anticipation high, another shot of a highly decorated Unitas 6497 movement... this time, it's on a Panerai!

Can you guess which Unitas I bought? It's not shown yet... but coming!

Unitas 6497

The Unitas 6497 was originally designed for pocket watches in the 50s. It was famous for being among the best made pocket watch movement ever made at that time. Today, it is seeing a revival thanks to the trend of big watches (minimum 42mm diameter). The movement itself is around 37mm in diameter. The Unitas has 17 jewels and a 46 hour power reserve. It's a handwind movement but can be a bit rough to handle. Here are some comparo photos as to how different brands work their delicate skills onto this solid robust but plain movement. Pictures are taken from various sources I found over Google... so credit goes to them.

Basic Unitas 6497 when it first leaves the factory

Glycine's version

Madison Watch's version with some nice engraving work on the big gears

Ranfft's version with some nice Geneva stripes

Maurice Lacroix's version beautifully decorated with some spiral designs on the large gears

Why am I showing you all this? Well I just got myself a Unitas 6497 powered watch. I fell in love with it at first sight and now I'm a proud owner. Look for photos of it to come soon ^_^

Fish Ball Noodles Again

Fishball mee (Lum Kee) at Wisma Central. They took over from the quaint small corner that was previously occupied by Neko Japanese Restaurant. Not bad. Also have yong tau foo to help fill your tummies.

Kamen Rider Sempai!

Kickass new upcoming movie on the Kamen Rider Ichigo and Nigo (1st and 2nd) - a resurrection of the first Kamen Rider creations by Ishimori. I love the new look! Promising indeed in the light of the new Kamen Riders which I felt were losing their direction.

KLIP

Beginning this week, several photo clubs will be participating in this event (it's the KL international photographic festival that happens once every 2 years)... hence a couple of my photos will also be on display at the National Art Gallery. Do remember to drop by!

On a side note, my club (KSFKL) will be presenting a slide show on 16/7/05 at 1530 hours at the said venue. You are welcome to attend.

The humble Seiko 5 - good one!

The new Seiko 5 Sports watch... the SKZ209 and it's brother, the SKZ211. Both excellent value for money at RM500+. I almost picked one up myself. Do read this wonderful photo essay.

Haha... this is so funny. You don't need to understand Korean to understand this comic strip! Got it from Lost Seouls.

Ground Zero

Some of you may know... back then, I used to be a firm enthusiast of autodetailing. Now, my beloved Kenari is in bad shape... and all I have left are photos of the days of glory that have left me. Here's a shot of my Kenari at its peak.

Kajang Satay nearby

Did you know? The famed Haji Samuri kajang satay has opened a branch in Damansara Utama (same row as Fajar)? Not bad. Decent crowds. But I hate how the sticks are sticky. Make sure you have the ketupat!

New Korean DVDs for me!

A visiting good friend from Korea gave me these 2 titles... This Charming Girl and The President's Last Bang... am anxious to watch them!

I find your lack of faith, disturbing!

A few weeks back, I bought a ForceFX EP5 Vader saber. At RM548, it's probably the cheapest one can get it for off the shelf in Malaysia. If you wanna get it cheaper, you gotta get it overseas. Anyway, it's worth every cent and the photos here don't do it justice!
