About Fountain Pens Part 1 - Introduction

I'm starting this series of blogposts to further educate my readers on fountain pens. Many of us have experienced the pleasure/hassle of using fountain pens when we were in primary school through usage of cheap fountain pens from Pilot or Hero. Some of the luckier ones managed to own a nice Parker or Sheaffer handed down from our parents. In today's digital age, most of us rarely get to use a pen for long periods of time, choosing to use a ballpoint, rollerball or gel pen.

Today, the choice to use a fountain pen stems from our love of writing and using a man made tool that some of us feel has more 'soul' than a ballpoint. For all intents and purposes, a fountain pen (FP) forces the writer to write slowly and this indirectly improves ones handwriting. The fountain pen also lends some characteristics to one's handwriting e.g. line variation. You will find that using a fountain pen is less exhausting than using a ballpoint simply because you need less pressure when putting nib to paper.

Look out for Part 2 soon...

The Last Name Is Amane

Went to watch Death Note - The Last Name last night with KY, Suan, Carol and Kim. Thanks to Reta for the tix!

Being a huge fan of the anime (I just finished watching episode 12 and can't wait for more), I had looked forward to the first Death Note movie last year. It was good but did not supplant my preference for the ultra brilliant anime. Now, the 2nd movie is a different beast and completes the picture... it is truly brilliant. Among the best Japanese movies I've seen and definitely earns its place in the pantheon of movies that make Japanese culture what it is. The writing and pacing of the movie is ALMOST faultless and the humour and intelligence of the situations presented is at very least entertaining and attention-worthy.

Among the standouts, apart from Light and L, is Erika Toda who plays Misa Amane (MisaMisa of HappySweets)!!! ^_^

In any case, both the anime and movie had some changes from the manga. My recommendation is that you MUST indeed watch the first movie if you wish to fully make sense of the 2nd one. In any case, it did not prevent some viewers from thoroughly enjoying The Last Name. Whatever is said, just watch BOTH the anime and the movies. You will not be disappointed.

Save The World!

Heroes, coming to you soon on local TV. Anyway, many of you have watched this amazing series either via BT or some other means...

I ran through 9 of the first season's 11 episodes yesterday and should finish the final 2 today!

Don't read the spoilers on the net ya!

In any case, I can't type too much about the series for fear of spoiling it for you. All I can say is, I am amazed with the writing!

In any case, for those who HAVE watched the show, do visit Hiro Nakamura's Blog. It's hilarious!
